750 ml bottle into a tulip glass.

Pours a nice looking, golden color, mostly clear, with a huge head on a careful pour, lots of foamy lacing. The smell is Belgian yeast, candi sugar, black pepper, some hops, light green apples, spices- cloves, for one. Very nice. Taste starts with lots of yeast, the hops are more prevalent than the nose, light funk, crackers, light malt, green apples, some spiciness- again cloves. Smooth, fuller body for the style, maybe a touch over carbonated. seems a little fizzy.

This is a really solid saison, good flavor, and the Hallertau hops contribute to a great aroma. Would buy this again.

Bottle opens with a strong hiss, very carbonated. Pours a cloudy orange, with a billowy head that fades quickly. Foam overflows upon pouring, carbonation probably too high.

Aroma is kind of bland actually. A little phenolic, earthy, with a light tart aroma. Not a ton of aroma other than light yeast notes.

The flavor is heavy on the phenolics. It's a little earthy, but not much. Very phenolic, and lightly clove forward. The flavor fades quickly, and is kind of one note. Despite having some allegedly fruity hops, there is no aroma or taste of them.

Mouthfeel is prickly and carbonated. Carbonation erupts after every sip. Actually has a pretty full feeling, lightly slick.

Overall this isn't bad. I think it's a bit too one dimensional. I would prefer a better balance of saison aromas, and maybe some light hop presence. There are no tropical notes that are noted for Hallertau Blanc or Motueka hops. It was a bit of a let down.

750ml bottle, served in a tulip glass.
Dark saturated orange, last pour was murky and opaque, billowing sudsy head of white foam.
A little bit of spotty lace aroundd the edges.

Aroma is phenolic, with an earthy sweetness, and light impression of honey malt.
Taste has a phenolic clove spice as well, lingering earthy bitterness in the aftertaste. Mild citrus or banana underneath the dominant yeast, doesn't fully express itself it seems. Honey aftertaste. Full bodied and smooth, nice feel to it. Not fully attenuated, some light residual sweetness that is welcome. The phenolic spice is a touch high for my personal preference, but overall it's drinkable and worth a try.
