A traditional oatmeal stout made with roasted barley, flaked oats and caramelized malts. The variety brings a sweeter, rendered malt profile with a roasted finish.

Really nice example of style. On tap at Windsor Browns in Anaheim, California.
Slightly dry for an oatmeal stout but the roasted malts are delicate. The mouthfeel is spot on.

Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my snifter. Picked up this can at the brewery in November. Reviewing this can about 3 months later.
No date stamp on the can or label.
The beer pours a rich black coffee color and a foamy and cratered beige head of 3 cm foams up from the pour. this foam fades pretty quickly to a thin surface covering, and a few sips in the foam is gone completely from my glass.
The aroma on this beer is roasted malt with dark toasted bread, and almost charred note. there is also a little bit of black licorice note but I dont get any hop profile on the aroma.
The first sip reveals a smooth textured beer with tingly fine carbonation. Body is medium to a little lighter than I expected for an oatmeal stout. Beer drinks easy.
Flavor is some light bakers chocolate and roasted malts moves to some bitter notes and dries out quite a bit on the finish. A little black coffee is the flavor I pick up towards the end. Never much hop character and ABV is totally hidden. A smooth easy drinking oatmeal stout. Glad I picked these up during brewery visit.

Deep dark brown where no light shines through the edge of the glass. Beige head which is small and leaves no lace on the glass.
Mocha smell with a touch of chalkiness. Light milk deep in the background.
The flavor is closer to the typical Irish dry stouts with plenty of coffee and not much sweetness. I do pick up a touch of milk. The body is thin like the Irish stouts as well, no bonus for the "Oatmeal". High carbonation. The aftertaste is coffee without any dark chocolate. Overall, this is missing the thickness one would expect from the Oatmeal Stout style.

Poured on tap at the brewery.
Pours a dark, nearly pitch black color with a solid creamy caramel head. The head is gone quickly but settles into a nice golden ring atop the beer.
The aroma is fairly straightforward, but pleasant. Slightly roasted dark malts, followed by subtle chocolate and a touch of caramel.
The taste is exactly like the nose, however there's a lot more roastiness here, slightly charred even.
I was quite taken aback by the feel of this beer. It was extremely oily and light bodied with a little too much carbonation. Not sure if it was the batch or my palate but it definitely wasn't good.
Overall, a pretty decent oatmeal stout with solid flavors and aromas. The feel on this one was pretty bad, though perhaps I just caught a bad batch. Would definitely try again.

Growler filled 2 days ago at the brewery... they didn't even label the growler which is very disconcerting, but luckily I remember it was this one.
Pours a nice big 1.5 finger foamy rich creamy dark colored head that fades at a med pace, nice rich lacing, pitch black thick beer.
Nose big dark malt, creamy roasty malt, little char and fair roasty aromas, some fluffy nougat, little burnt caramel, touch of chocolate and hint of smokey note, dark chocolate cocoa, big creamy oats, and a touch of a spicy hop. The more it warms the more that burnt note and yeasty character comes through.
Taste brings more dark malts, roasty char, a touch of a smokiness as well, dark chocolate notes, a creamy lush cocoa. The dark malts get a little over roasty and charred flavors that are a little overbearing, mild biscuity and caramel notes, burnt caramel. Mild earthy hops, not much, more bitterness from the roast, some creamy oats, burnt coffee and flan even but not really sweet. Finish is dry and nice bitterness, roasty char and cocoa lingering, a little more smoked note, almost vegetal thing lingering from that smoke and tannic note, little sticky.
Mouth is med to heavier bod, rich and lush oats, nice carb.
Overall mixed, it def had some nice characters, but the over roasty char def detracts from it, and gives a hint of a smoke and tannic note.
