Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a pure jet black color with a toppling tan foamy head. Just a little bit of wispy concave lace.
The aroma had a great blend of sweet roasty coffee beans and grounds with an athletic direction of some sweet maple syrup sounding off inside my nose. Some light char/ash quality guides the underneath with some dark chocolate, dark toast and milk chocolate.
The flavor leaned slightly towards the sweet side but seemed to become more of a balance with some roast, coffee bean bitterness and dark toast as it warmed up. Slight ashy aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Good carbonation with some stickiness but I somewhat expected that with the maple syrup in this. Luckily, nothing is cloying. Semi-smooth finish with some maple lingering quaintly with toasty char effects.
Overall, a very nice oatmeal stout well worthy of coming back to.

Pours with some clarity coming out of the bottle, nearly opaque, yet there is some visible carbonation. Very dark color, not quite jet black, but the darkest shade of brown. A large dark tan and mocha foam head displays good retention.
Roasty aromas evoke coffee and cocoa powder, compliment the notes of nutty, caramel and biscuity malts. Notes of oatmeal, touches of bright dark fruit esters and floral hops. The maple aroma is more reminiscent of an earthy, woody and tree like scent, rather than the syrup.
The taste opens with nutty malt flavors, toasted malt, moderate sweetness and an initial finish that is bright and with hints of cherry. Soon, a roasty bitterness sets in, evoking espresso beans and dark chocolate. Throughout, the oatmeal flavors lend their smoothness. Most interestingly, the maple flavors provide a taste that is earthy rather than syrupy and sweet, redolent of raw unsweetened maple tree sap. In addition, muted hops flavors add a touch of bitterness, woody, earthy and floral flavors, and a mild spice.
Full bodied, smooth and mouth coating. The finish is long and creamy with a light roasty linger. The carbonation is moderate.
Nice oatmeal stout that has some complexity yet easy drinking. The maple added a nice touch.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a finger high dark tan head that gradually died down, leaving a short head covering the surface.
S: Light aromas of burnt coffee beans are present in the nose along with notes of maple syrup, the latter of which becomes a lot stronger as the bee warms up.
T: The taste follows the smell, having initial flavors of burnt coffee beans and finishing with notes of maple syrup and hints of associated sweetness.
M: It feels a bit more than light-bodied and a little airy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very light in body, making it quite drinkable, but lacks the smoothness that you would normally expect from an oatmeal stout.

Strong over roasted coffee flavor, and some maple syrup. The coffee mellows with warming. Light MF. Nice looking beer, dark chocolate, with a 4F head. Maple flavor is not strong. Worth checking out.

16oz can.

Pours opaque black with mahogany edgework. A short head of tan receded quickly to a placid surface with minimal lacing. Chocolate, maple, and coffee in the nose. Medium bodied with a creamy but an almost cola-like prickly carbonation. Sweet maple with dark chocolate and espresso on the palate. Finishes a bit sweet with a nice balance.

Nice pastry stout which keeps the sweetness in check but the mouthfeel is lacking.
