Sampling a cellar temp 500 ml bottle poured into my snifter. bottle is 7/1000 and was bottled on 7/02/2021.
The beer was picked up at the brewery in October 2022 and has been in my cellar since then.
The beer pours a dark cola brown with no light passing through the glass. A dense tan head of about 2 cm foams up and fades to a thin edge layer about half way through sampling. More legs on the glass when I swirl than any lattice.
Aroma is some sweet bourbon , brown sugar, charred wood and some light vanilla. I get faint dark chocolate too, but the barrels dominate the nose. No hop character and not boozy or fusol at all.
First sip reveals a soft and silky medium body with very fine and gentle carbonation. Texture is a little sticky on my palate and lips. But generally, the beer drinks pretty easy for the physical traits for a 16% er!
Flavor is similar to the nose. I get some chocolate brownie and some roasted notes. But then brown sugar, sweet bourbon take over. Finish is bourbony, but not boozy and no warmth. No hop character either.
This is a very good BBA Imperial Stout, especially if you like the bourbon to carry the show. Im enjoying this one and not feeling the impacts of the ABV.....yet!

This one pours a dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like coffee, vanilla, cookie dough, roasted malt, dark fruit, tobacco, leather, smoke, and caramel.
This is absolutely stellar, and probably the second best beer that I've ever had Barreled Souls, behind Wisdom. There's a lot of barrel here, with a nice balance of sweet and dry, a whisp of smoke, caramel, leather, tobacco, all sorts of complex and delicious barrel character from the long time sleeping. There's also coffee, some rich caramel chocolate truffle sort of thing, and a hint of vanilla and dark fruit.
This is medium bodied, creamy, and shockingly un-boozy, with a really great drinkability.
It's hard to find much to not like about this one. It's a masterpiece.
