Our Wheat Wine, Honey Pot, finished with plums. Adds a nice stone fruit sweetness flavor with a bit of a dry finish.

Sampling this 500 ml bottle at cellar temp. Picked up at the brewery in October 2022. Been in my cellar since then.
The beer pours a slightly murky chestnut color with a dense creamy beige head of 1 cm foaming up. This foam fades to a thin edge layer that remains throughout the sampling.
Aroma is some rich fruity plum notes and toffee and caramel. The fruit is dominant with hints of grapes too, but sweet plum carries through. No hint of hops and the ABV is well hidden too.
First sip reveals a medium body with slightly sticky texture and medium carbonation. beer drinks easier than it should for an almost 13% beer.
Flavor is sweet fruity notes similar to the nose. Plums and here some pear and toffee. But also a good hit of warming booze comes through. A little peppery bite, but mostly warming notes that I notice after the swallow.
I am enjoying this beer quite a lot and find my glass to empty very quickly. Which is a little dangerous at the ABV.
Another solid beer from Barreled Souls!

A slow pour reveals a brown colored liquid that is THICK - like brown tomato juice with a light tan head. I gotta say, this ain’t the prettiest beer I’ve ever seen. Now I am really intrigued.

The nose is straight up licorice, so I’m thinking I’ve stumbled onto a big beer packing anise. That is literally the only aroma I’m getting, outside of something that vaguely resembles applesauce.

So I’m at anise and applesauce. Got it.

The taste has lots of anise - as in pretty much all anise, with what is now definitely applesauce on my palate as the beer warms - but that may very well be my beer nerd brain saying to beer nerd me that there’s got to be something here besides anise.

And yet, I’m digging this. The mouthfeel is complementary of a big beer, very full and almost drying, not that I see how that’s even possible.

Visibly quite different from the base beer; much paler and cloudier.

Some plum on the nose, but it lends more sweetness than sharpness to the boozy proceedings.

Lovely plum aspect on the palate, at times dirty and earth, other times lush, sweet, and fruity. It’s like a non-soured Lambic dialed up to a million percent ABV. Hot and sweet. Tasting notes of white grape, plum, honeycomb, cream, and caramel. Not the most complex profile, but very enjoyable.
