473 mL can from TBS; dated Sep 11 2023 and served slightly chilled. This appears to be the product of a marketing partnership between Longslice and Murdoch Mysteries, a Canadian TV show that has been on the air for 17 years, apparently. That's a pretty impressive run.
Pours a clear medium gold colour, fitted with an inch-thick crown of lumpy, foamy white head that lasts for a little over five minutes. It leaves behind a lovely coat of lace, as well as a thick, creamy collar and thin cap - looks great so far. Immaculately clean aroma of grainy pale malts, white bread and soda crackers; smells wholesome, encouraging me to take a sip. As if I needed any further encouragement!
It's a quality craft lager - clean tasting, with no off flavours. I'm getting grainy pale malts and white bread for the most part, with lesser notes of crackers and apple skin; a wisp of mildly herbal hop bitterness creeps forward on the back end. Grainy-sweet finish, concluding with a relatively dry aftertaste. Light-medium in body, with gentle carbonation that adds a little bit of crispness to this lager's smooth, satisfying mouthfeel. I could totally drink this all night without complaint.
Final Grade: 3.92, a solid B+. I don't think it'd be an exaggeration to say that Station House NÂș 4 is the best Longslice brew I've yet tried. No, it's not an exciting beer, but I do think it's a darn good pale lager, well above average compared to the median Ontario-brewed competition. No real weak spots here, or anything to complain about really - just a tasty, well-made beer; highly recommended to any lager lover.
