Not sure if this a bitter or a strong bitter. The Frog's website calls it a strong bitter, so I agreed. The beer showed a great creamy head, perfectly dense, fine and silky. I want to swim in this glass, it is so voluptuous. The body os of a purple/mahogany color. The smell shows nice notes of red fruits. The taste is thickly hoppy, it circles the mouth without being too overwhelming. Maybe some mint and some chocolate, smooth like cold chocolate, and with the bitterness of dark chocolate. Dry and grassy. Grapefruit, grapefruit, grapefruit. The mouthfeel is creamy and smooth, lasting with flavorful and slightly oily hops.
A surprizing beer that mixes the creaminess of a stout, the aromas of an amber ale and the hop profile of an IPA. Interesting. Not overly drinkable though. Half a pint is just fine for me, I can't sip on that for the whole night...
