Oliphant Super Squishy Fruited Sour, 5% ABV. Pours hazy orange with a slight white head that left no lacing. Aroma is very light fruit. Taste follows, faintly sweet, faintly tart, not much flavor. Mouthfeel is OK, quite light on carbonation. Overall good.

Kettle Sour
I bought this beer because my girlfriend's last name is Oliphant. I used a tulip glass; the temperature was 44 degrees. The pour created a froth and airy pink two-fingered head. The retention of the head is excellent, slowly dissipating, leaving lacing on the glass. The color is pinkish reddish hue. The appearance is above average.
I smell berries, coconut, lightly toasted malts, salt, and subtle fruity sweetness. The aroma is similar to a Gose.
I taste the coconut, berries(hard to determine which is what), lightly toasted malts, salt, vanilla, and lemon sourness.
The mouthfeel is a touch dry and tart. The body is light, medium carbonation, a quick finish.
The sourness in the beer is tame, but it does have tartness from the berries. The coconut is there but subtle, adding character to the overall composition of the beer. It is a solid sour, wanted a bit more pucker factor.

Super Squishy Blackberry and Raspberry Sour. Berry Sour Ale. With lactose, vanilla, coconut, and sea salt. 5% ABV. Brewed and crowlered by Oliphant Brewing, Somerset, WI.

You know what I said a little bit back about how I can only do sour ales in small doses? And remember the thing I've also said before about how my fascination with the Oliphant Brewing Company is akin to comic book collecting in that I can't help myself from trying them all, in a maniacal desire to complete a collection? It's as if I had to buy that issue of Marvel Team Up where Spider-Man and the Thing battle the Basilsk because I have to have every appearance of Benjamin J. Grimm, even though I don't collect Marvel Team-Up, and am not as obsessed with Spider-Man as I am of the Thing...but I still like Spider-Man, too, I mean, who doesn't. I just don't need every appearance. I like him, just not in every single comic book.

And that's why it's time for another sour, this time from Oliphant. Yeah! Let's drink it...

Opaque, dark berry-colored, thick pink, lace-leaving head. Good God, it's beautiful.

In the nose: Sweet meets tart. Berry upon berry. Creamy, salty, and, by Crom, coconut. It's all there. The legends are true. It's wacky, it's weird, and it just might work.

In the mouth: Whoa, that's good squishy. Big punch of berries and tartness, and this coconut comes right on in. Whoa, that wasn't expected, vanilla and cream pops up next. This is something else. Salt stays right in time with the rest. This one is really the sum of all it's parts, and then some.

I think it's pretty damned delicious. I wouldn't drink it on the regular, but it's a nice tasty treat for now and once in a while and then again.

I like the contrast between the salt, the sweet and the sour. I like that it uses that vanilla & lactose but isn't trying to muck it up by also making it an IPA, for the love of Benji.

Therefore, I heartily recommend that you check it out, and then go crazy, Broadway-style.

12oz can. No dating information found.
Scarlet raspberry colored body. Slight off white head, which results in a partial island and ring. Leaves behind some scattered spots of lacing.
Aroma of raspberry on top and blackberry underneath, with a bit of vanilla. All add to a sweetness quotient.
Taste is slightly sweet with a touch of tart. Lots of raspberry and blackberry. Sweet lactose with the mellow vanilla.
Medium mouth feel. Very good carbonation.
Very good balance of fruit with the vanilla and lactose. Not sour, and not very tart. Easy to imbibe.

On-tap at Republic, Minneapolis, MN

A: The beer is very hazy to cloudy reddish purple in color. It poured with a collar of white bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of blackberries are present in the nose along with notes of vanilla and hints of vanilla.
T: The taste follows the smell, but has stronger flavors of vanilla with additional hints of lactose. Notes of sea salt are present towards the finish once the beer warms up.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and slightly creamy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I really liked the combination of flavors in the taste of this beer.

Pours a robust cloudy and vibrant red raspberry colour. Juicy (daresay, squishy) aromas of coconut and vanilla, with after notes of fresh raspberries. Fresh and juicy throughout without being too tart. This is a very approachable sour. Delightful salt notes lend a flavour profile similar to a gose. Fresh raspberry and blackberry juice upfront. Smooth and sweet. Medium-bodied; a similar body to a milkshake beer. Vanilla mid-body and a smooth coconut berry juice finish. Lingering light coconut palate. A very fun and tasty beer.

Pours a nice purple reddish color. The head is 2 finger, reddish/white, frothy, and has decent retention. There's some nice lacing as the head dissipates.
The nose is a very rich fruity sour aroma. The Blackberry seems to be the undertone to the raspberry.
Taste - There's a sour component to this beer. That being said, the lactose really mellows it out. I also do get some of the vanilla on the backside, but it's not pronounced much. The sea salt, I don't get at all.
The sourness does linger for a bit, but, like the taste, it is mellowed out by the lactose. It does have a decent body.
This beer has a lot going on here, and it does work out well.

This beer pours an alarming bright berry red, with a solid pink head. The aroma features a huge burst of fleshy, juicy raspberry, as well as a touch of blackberry, with a hint of vanilla, and pickle juice sourness. The flavor is a burst of pure fun, with huge citric acid warhead sourness, very fresh raspberry and blackberry flavors, a touch of sweet vanilla and butterscotch, sour green apple,, apple skin, and a hint of cheese funk. The mouthfeel is very light with bright, fizzing, fine grained carbonation. Overall is a a joyously fun beer - in no way serious, but utter, unmistakable fun.
