Enjoyed from a 16 oz can, compliments of my friend Mark, who fearlessly smuggled it across state lines. A slightly hazy pour on the pale orange side of golden. Tight, fine carbonation persists along the edge. The nose is light and orangey, with clove and banana that invoke hefeweizen. The body is not as light as the nose suggests, giving it some welcome oomph. The hefeweizen-like spice and softness carry over to the taste. This saison is sweeter and less earthy than many, but some bitterness is nonetheless present. True to its style, this beer invokes the summer, which is most welcome on a single-digit evening. If a saison is supposed to be a "refreshing summer ale," this fits the bill. On the other hand, there's not any chance that I'll still have any left by that time.
