A celebratory lager beer, brewed in honour of the world’s greatest beer festival, Oktoberfest. Drawing inspiration from the robust, yet endlessly drinkable Festbiers enjoyed at Oktoberfest, the Ansbacher Festbier is a celebration of lager at its finest.
The beer is gloriously golden in colour, and is clean, crisp and refreshing. A pleasing aroma of traditional, noble hops is paired with a subtly sweet malt base, all balanced by a thirst-quenching bitterness.

With 259 Uniques on UnTappd and only 44 this month, I'm guessing this is about A&H's fifth release of this Festbier. And it shows repeating releases because there probably are only minor improvements to make in future releases.
On the other hand, there is nothing particularly special about this Festbier. They probably started with a typical recipe; and no, or few, experiments had to be corrected in the next release. I'm Looking at a slightly above average Festbier, clear but not lively. Smells are pretty mute, modest malt. Tastes are balanced with hops only pushing back on the sweet malt in the finish. Cleansing and medium-mouthed. Take another bite of the pretzel, Hans.
Bought this Festbier from Hop, Burns & Black, under the Deptford, London train station. Only my third from A&H, I feel confident in concluding that their business strategy involves careful decisions and modest improvements. Not an extreme brewer, I think I could like these guys.

Pours a clear yellow with soft, soapy head.
Smell is rich and bready with notes of knäckebröd, toast, honey and citrus peel with some spicy hints.
Taste is rich and bready with a solid bitterness. Notes of toast, knäckebröd, citrus and honey with some spicy hints.
Mouthfeel is medium, smooth and creamy with good carbonation.
Overall, a terrific Festbier that hides the ABV superbly.

440ml can.
L: Clear, dark gold with masses of microbubbles rising to a thick, creamy, persistent head.
S: Bready and clean.
T: Malty upfront with a long and spicy hop aftertaste. Low sweetness and refreshing bitterness.
F: Moderate carbonation, full and rich mouthfeel, nicely oily with a dry finish.
O: A balanced malty/hoppy festbier from London. Like a bigger and bolder helles. Plenty of joy to be had.

Pours a hazy lager yellow, with a white head that thins to a ring. Herbaceous on the nose, bready and spiced on the tongue, with a sweet lagery finish.
