A festive reimagining of Danelaw, our collaborative Brown Ale brewed with our friends at Væskebalancen Bar & Bottleshop in Denmark.

The base beer remains untouched as a showcase of the English heritage malt Chevallier and is infused with orange peel, cinamon, cloves and cardamom. The result is a comforting blend of rich, sweet malt flavours with a warming, festive spice, reminiscent of the Danish Christmas drink, Gløgg.

Pulled from the cask at the A&H taproom on the Bermondsey Beer Mile. A gentle holiday ale which I'm glad to have even later than Valentines Day.

Yulelaw Looks average like the typical English Brown, there is a foam and it sticks to the glass; but it really is marginally active. Smells are malt meets holiday spicing, but gentle. Tastes are equally well balanced. Almost medium-mouthed. Soft for the style.

I give A&H very good Overall Hugs for not just for the subtleties in Yulelaw, but also for being innovators within London's growing micro movement.

440ml can.
L: Clear, chestnut brown with two fingers of off-white head and rings of lacing.
S: Orange peel, cloves, sweet malt.
T: Rich malt with Christmas spice. Bitterness is moderate to light.
F: Medium body with a very dry finish.
O: A clean, nicely balanced, spiced Brown Ale. Not overly spiced, so the base ale retains its warm & malty base, but sufficiently spiced to offer a tangy, festive edge. Perfect for our annual neighbourhood outdoor Christmas Eve carol singing party. Will go nicely with a warm mince pie.
