Bought and consumed in Uivta, Costa Rica. Red and pink tinges in an gold brew, topped with a foamy white head. This one was a bit different for me, as it is brewed with "Flor de Jamaica" - hibiscus. This gave is a sort of earthy floral notes that wasn't bad but not altogether great. Nice citrus sweetness in the background with a good backbone of malt. It was definitely refreshing. I would try this again, just to understand more of that hibiscus flavor... I suppose that is a good sign - a mystery that begs to be explored again and again.

for both my girlfriend and i, this was one of our favorite costa rica craft beers we had on our trip, and definitely one of the most accomplished breweries that we experienced there. its a bright pink saison brewed with hibiscus. the color is a clearish but really dense pink, with a nice pale fizzy head on it, looks a little more lively from the bottle than the tap (we had it in both formats several times and i think prefer the bottle). aroma here is floral but not at all perfumy, with a distinct saison yeast strain and a surprisingly bright hop profile, rather complex, and super dialed in, this is not some random stab in the dark at creativity, its highly refined, beautiful beer. the yeast is subtle but it is distinct, belgian a little bit with a white grape sort of fruitiness to it, maybe orchard fruits as well, awesome with the hibiscus and the orangey citrusy flavor that it finishes with. usually when a beer has a lot of hibiscus to it, its way too much, but this is different in that its strong but not that vaporous almost noxious perfume sort of flowery, its just fantastic. high carbonation and low alcohol, still with some wheat malt character, very very drinkable. cool label art too. we pounded this one while we were in costa rica, and were stoked to see it all over the place. one of our very favorites from the trip!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
