L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a deep, dark, mahogany brown color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, tan-colored head that quickly dissipated. Below average lacing.

S: A big, sweet aroma of chocolate, malt, maple syrup, and vanilla.

T: Tasted of a bit of malt (subtle, yet sturdy backbone of), a tinge of vanilla (kind of fleeting), a ton of chocolate (the dominant ingredient; sweet, but not cloyingly so), some booze (not too much, though), and a decent amount of maple syrup (gives it a nice zip). This is a big, bracing, and complex flavor Pretty tasty stuff.

F: An average amount of carbonation with a silky smooth finish. Full-bodied.

O: A thoroughly enjoyable RIS. Drinkable.

The beer pours an off white creamy head with a brown hue to it. The beer itself is a dark chocolate brown so dark that it looks black.

The smell is very sweet and fairly indulgent. The strongest note is the combined sweetness of maple syrup and vanilla while the cocoa note comes out a little bit in the finish.

The taste is similar to the smell. It has a very sweet note consisting of a creamy vanilla with a cocoa note coming in during the finish. The maple syrup is what comes out the most and, while it mixes well with the vanilla, it dominates the taste; turning the beer into a very sweet beer with very little complexity to it.

The feel is good. It has a heavy body with a creamy and slightly syrup texture to it.

Overall, a pretty good beer worth getting during a cold day.

22oz bottle poured into a snifter

Pours deep black with a thin foamy khaki head that has short retention. Smells of charred malt, dark chocolate, cocoa powder and vanilla. Taste follows the nose with plenty of char up front that brings out some coffee notes. Sweet vanilla and cocoa mid-palate, alcohol and char on the finish. Medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a warming finish. ABV is hidden quite well, I would have guess maybe 12% if I didn't know better.

On tap at Beavertown Extravaganza. Aroma has sweet, creamy coffee and rich malts. Taste has an intense malt character, alcohol heat and roasty/astringent bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel.
