Growler pour from hophound. Thanks brother.
Deep dark brown. Murky with a tan loose head that rises 2+ fingers and settles to a thin film. Moderate lacing.
Smell is rich, roasted caramel malt with a drying hop bitterness that brings hints of pine sap, Really pleasant.
Taste is initially mildly sweet in the caramel direction, but then quickly turns toward an earthy, dry, slight bitter that becomes piney.
Mouthfeel is full, almost chewy. One of the thickest mouthfeel I've had for a black IPA. Quite good to me.
Overall, this may be a bit chewy for some, but to me that is one of the features that makes this one stand out.
