very bourbony, can taste the chocolate in the after taste, bourbon over shadows the coffee , not much of a milk stout taste

A curious stout. Likable, sweet and, of course, different. But there is something odd -- perhaps a chemical-odd vanilla in the nose -- that, then, does not really appear in the Taste. This is not noted by the five other reviews I've read. So I won't make a big deal of that odd... except to say that it should not spoil the show. Also different is the replacement of traditional dark malts. But none of this is unsettling as Swayze Crazy is an enjoyable dessert.

I went on Arclight's website and they are cryptic. I suppose it OK to let their beer do the talking instead of the site. But I prefer to know about the brewers and what motivates them. I could not find anything on who started Arclight and why. While most build their brewery from a handful of models, every brewer is a little different and it is nice to know why.

Clear amber body with only a ring of dirty white foam. Smell features coffee, white chocolate, vanilla, caramel, cream and sweet yeast. Taste is like a coffee blonde with white and semi-sweet chocolate chips, really pleasant. Feel is thin for the milk stout, but nice contrasting sweetness and coffee textures. Not wild about golden stouts, but glad I tried this one, worth your time

16 ounce prowler into tulip glass, filled on 1/19/2019. Pours fairly crystal clear deep golden amber/light orange color with a 2 finger dense and rocky cream colored head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk/white chocolate, cocoa, nutty medium roast coffee, honey, caramel, vanilla, cream, toasted oats, and white bread dough; with light notes of dark fruit, smoke, herbal, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of coffee, cocoa, lactose, bready malt, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of huge milk/white chocolate, cocoa, nutty medium roast coffee, honey, caramel, vanilla, cream, toasted oats, and white bread dough; with light notes of dark fruit, smoke, herbal, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Very mild herbal/grassy hop, and roasted coffee bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/white chocolate, cocoa, nutty medium roast coffee, honey, caramel, vanilla, cream, toasted oats, white bread dough, light fruit/smoke, herbal, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of coffee, cocoa, lactose, bready malt, and light earthy hop flavors; with a solid malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying sweetness after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/coffee bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 8%. Overall this is an incredible imperial milk/sweet white stout! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of coffee, cocoa, lactose, bready malt, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the ABV; with the minimally bitter/drying finish; amazingly soft feel. Amazing balance of rich malts, cocoa, lactose, and fruity/nutty coffee complexity; with just enough earthy hops to balance sweetness. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing style example. Best in the "style" I've had yet.

750 ml bottle
Served in a snifter

This beer pours copper colored with burnt orange highlights. It is topped with several inches of beige head that leaves a little lacing.

It smells like I should have opened it sooner. The coffee has evolved into a peppery smell that pervades the other aromas of milk chocolate and hints of coffee.

The taste is pretty nice. It has a good sweetness from the lactose. It tastes like milk chocolate. The coffee has faded and melds with the chocolate to drink like a dessert beer. The taste is a nice replication of a milk stout.

Medium to full mouthfeel and very creamy

I love the name, and I really like the taste of this beer. I need to buy a fresh bottle some year and try it as it is meant to be drank, fresh. I have the sudden urge to watch Roadhouse now.

22 ounce bottle into a snifter.

Pours a medium amber, slightly hazy, with a short head and a ring of foamy lacing. Smell is malt, cream, white chocolate, some vanilla and yeast. Taste follows the nose with the malt and white chocolate, more vanilla than the nose, cream, light milk chocolate. It's sweet. Smooth, creamy feel, could use a touch more carbonation.

A good and kind of unique twist on a milk stout. Really had a lot of lactose. Very enjoyable and worth a try.
