Looks and pours like motor oil. Midnight black in color that produces a quarter finger dark mocha, reddish head that slowly builds through the dense body, but dissipates quickly once it forms. Creates a dark brown film on the glass as you swirl it around. A menacing looking beer.
Aroma has a heavy presence of Hershey's chocolate syrup. Like Hershey's chocolate syrup to a T. Also getting big creamy vanilla, coconut macaroon, toasted coconut, mocha, lightly toasted marshmallow, some coffee roast, caramel, slight dark chocolate. Big impression of sweetness. Smells like a true pastry stout.
Taste is definitely sweet as the aroma indicated, but has a bit more balance thanks to more coffee and roast character. Hershey's chocolate syrup, toasted coconut macaroon, dark chocolate brownie, nice presence of dark roast coffee, vanilla bean, toasted marshmallow, burnt sugar, roasted malt, slight black licorice. Very reminiscent of a sweeter mocha latte with coconut.
Full body. Very dense and syrupy with low carbonation. Mouth-coating, sticky, slick.
Regular World Between Worlds is one of the better coconut pastry stouts I've had. This variant elevates that one to another level. The coffee, chocolate, and vanilla all complement each other, as well as the toasted coconut. Pastry stouts are meant to be sweet, flavorful, thick, and dense and this one doesn't hold any of that back.
