A big puffy fine white head reaches one and a half inches before gradually settling to a half inch. The Kaiser Karl chalice receives a coating of thick white lace above clear gold beer with fine random carbonation.

The aroma immediately evokes a strong memory of ""quiet hour"" at my grandparents' house. Gin dominates a light farmhouse funk. Spicy herbs, perhaps sage, accent fresh sawn oak and old leather-bound books.

Gin flavors are up front with a sharp bitter bite. Faint citric fruitiness follows, similar to grapefruit pith. A late dry bitter finish lingers, providing a siren call for each following sip. The beer warms well, adding a touch of acid and brine.

The body is medium to full, with far greater presence of alcohol than expected. Texture is similar to scratchy nylon. Ample carbonation provides a fine scrubbing of light astringency.

While the base of this beer may be a Blonde Ale, the gin barrel aging elevates it to a new style. This is a very interesting and character-full beer. So much so that I hope gin barrel aging becomes more prevalent. I recommend sipping and enjoying this beer in a cool, dark and quiet place, perhaps in private library surrounded by books, leather chairs and bulky oak tables. One can reminisce about times gone by or dissect new philosophies. Blonde Ginny is by far the best of Nedloh's beers I've had to date and evoke sentimental journeys.
