A beast of a beer. It starts with a nice, balanced pilsner based wort that’s kettle soured to give it some mean tart character. Later, monstrous amounts of blueberry puree are added giving it a natural blueberry flavor its ridiculous purple color. We added just enough thai basil to give it a sneaky herbal balance.

Pours purple with a five finger head of foam with lots of lacing left. Beer is light but hazy. The aroma is, if anything, perhaps blueberries with a mild hint of basil. Taste carries through with blueberry and a hint of basil. The beer is sour, though perhaps not as sour as other Drekker offerings. There is a dry tang, light in body, with some astringency and a fair amount of carbonation.

Drekker People Eater Blueberry Basil Sour Ale, 5.5% ABV. Pours purplish red with a 4+ finger big purple head, that left no lacing. Nose is blueberry and basil, taste follows with moderate tartness. Decent mouthfeel, though dry and a little strong on carbonation. Overall excellent.

Got in a trade with GreenBayBA. 16 ounce can into tulip glass, no can dating. Pours moderately hazy ruby red/orange, light pink/purple color with a 1 finger dense and rocky light pink head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big juicy/tart/tangy blueberries, basil, fruit skin/seed, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, melon, apricot, red/green apple, red grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, light peppercorn/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of blueberries, basil, fruity/acidic yeast, and moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big juicy/tart/tangy blueberries, basil, fruit skin/seed, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, melon, apricot, red/green apple, red grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, light peppercorn/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and basil bitter/spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy blueberries, basil, fruit skin/seed, lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, melon, apricot, red/green apple, red grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, light peppercorn/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of blueberries, basil, fruity/acidic yeast, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with a great malt, tart, tangy, bitter, spiciness balance; and no puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering tang/tartness and bitter/spiciness after the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth and moderately bready/grainy/sticky/acidic/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 5.5%. Overall this is an awesome fruited/spiced kettle sour. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of blueberries, basil, fruity/acidic yeast, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp/refreshing to drink with the modestly acidic/tangy/bitter/spicy/drying finish; not overly lactic. Awesome balance of juicy/jammy berries, basil, and Lacto complexity; with a great pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp dryness. A really enjoyable offering, and impressive style example. Not overwhelming on any aspect.

L: hazy purple under a 1" pink tinted foam cap with fair to poor retention
S: Blueberry dominates the aroma with support from citrus, tropical fruit, mild tartness, pie crust and a hint of basil
T: The flavors start with blueberry and a lemonade level of tartness. Mildly sweet pie crust flavors temper the tartness and then the beer hits a drying, slightly astringent finish with a hint of tannin
F: The body is medium light and the carbonation is medium high
O: interesting, refreshing and very drinkable

Pours a hazed pink blueberry color with a thin purple head Smell is like the label says its blueberry and fruit with basil and spice. Taste follows nice just mildy tart/sour. A slight tart mouthfeel with a dry finish. Split several of these between some ipa's and like the slight tart nature of this one.
