Brewed traditionally as a refreshing provisional drink for Belgian miners, the Grisette style beer completely fell out of production in the late 1800’s and was all but lost to the history books.
Heavy Glow is a reincarnation of this old-world farmhouse ale with a modern twist – generous dry hop additions of Hallertau Blanc & Huell Melon. It’s rustic, complex, sessional, and undyingly delicious.

Can from the sharing table at the meeting last night, thanks to whomever brought it. Slightly hazy light golden color with a thin off white head. Earthy light spice and honey maltiness.

L: hazy straw gold permeated by streams of rapidly rising bubbles under a massive 4" snow white head that over several minutes gradually settles down to a thick, lacy film
S: smells like Belgian Saison yeast, light fruit, berry, spice and a hint of melon
T: has a lot of flavor for the amount of alcohol, featuring white wine, berries, light melon, fruit, grapes and traces of over ripe fruit. The bitterness is medium low.
F: very creamy with a medium light body and medium high carbonation.
O: packs a lot of nuanced, complex flavor

Golden straw with lots of bubbles. Rapidly rising, tall, white, fluffy head. Aroma is light, fruity, sour melon, grapes. Smooth feel, a bit creamy. Taste is light, a bit sour, melon, other soft fruits, slightly bitter in the middle. Clean, dry finish with grapes and a sour hit at the end. Not a style I've tried before. Decent, enjoyable, I liked it.
