Modern day brewers owe a lot to the 19th century Bohemian brewers of Pilsen. In 1842 the first clear, light colored beer was introduced to a world used to dark and murky beers and the Pilsner style was born. Very shortly after, pilsner style beers were being brewed all over Europe and the United States, with each country and region adapting the style slightly to the brewing conditions and ingredients available.
Buffalo Rodeo is a clean, crisp bohemian style pilsner lager that has a crackery pilsner malt backbone with a hint of spicy rye. Just the right amount of sterling hops give it a nice, citrusy balance.

New art on the can. White head that fades. Very clear pale straw gold.
Light, crisp, bready, biscuity, zesty, spicy, floral. Light citrus.
Packed with flavor for such a light, low abv beer. This is a crusher.

Poured from a pint can into a tall pils glass.
Pours lightly hazed pale gold. Limited head and lacing. But lots of carbonation and bubbles streaming from the bottom of the glass.
Simple straight aromas of crackery and grainy malt and faint grassy hops.
The rye lends a spicier grainier flavor of the tongue than the average pils, Restrained malt sweetness on the tip of the tongue; the grainy spicy crackery flavors arrive in midstream. The finish is slightly bittered with classic grassy balance.
Good mouthfeel. A bit more body than is usual, it is still medium light with good carbonation and the rye provides a nice drying finish.
Rye additions can overshadow the base intention. This is well balanced, and the rye is a "seasoning" not the main event.

Tasted in a Spiegelau pilsner glass from a one pint can on December 28, 2019. This clean, crisp Bohemian style pilsner lager has a crackery pilsner malt backbone with a hint of spicy eye and sterling hops give it a nice, citrusy balance.

Drekker Buffalo Rodeo Rye Pils, 5.2% ABV. Pours clear pale yellow with a 3+ finger white head that left no lacing. Nose is mild, a bit of malt and bread. Taste is slight toasted malt and bread, not much bitterness. Excellent mouthfeel, if a bit overcarbonated. Overall excellent, what you would call sessionable.

Poured from a pint can into a pilsner glass.
L - Lovely pale yellow. Very clear. Very active carb bubbles. Head reminds me of frothed milk. 2 finger from pour, lasted throughout the drink. Nice lacing.
S - A touch more hop smell than I would like out of the style, but not overwhelming (especially compared to other craft beers where the hop presence is always on the "hoppy" side of the style). I can still pick out the cracker from the pils malt. No DMS or other faulty smells.
T - Now this is what I would expect from a Bohemian Pils! Good hop flavor from the Sterling hops (nice that Drekker used an American decendent of Saaz), but it's balanced nicely with the malt. On top of that, you do get a nice subtle spiciness from the rye malt that gives it a nice rye bread flavor. Well done here!!
F - Very carbonated. It has a very slight slickness that could be attributed to the rye malt. Otherwise, it finishes crisp and clean as a lager should. The flavor of the hops and rye linger ever so slightly.
O - I'm not sure if Drekker is available outside if the Dakotas and Minnesota, but if you can find it, buy it. It's a great example of what can be achieved by playing with a few variables, yet staying within the spirit of the style. Another awesome beer from this brewery!!
