Synaptic Cleft is a big, soft double IPA built on a huge base of oats and wheat and hopped with Motueka, Moutere, Citra, and Belma for some massive citrus, stone fruit, & berry flavors with just the right amount of bitterness to perfectly balance it all out.

Poured from a 16 ounce can dated 7/11/22 into a snifter.
Look- Pale gold, very hazy, no visible particulate, sudsy white head, above average head retention and lacing.
Smell- Pineapple, melon, clementine, mango, strawberry.
Taste- Melon, clementine, mango, strawberry, slightly boozy at finish.
Feel- Medium body, pillow soft, creamy, below average carbonation, moderately bitter, slight booze burn at finish.
Overall- Great look and very nice bouquet. Complex flavors that meld together nicely and a super soft/creamy feel. This was a very nice drinking experience.

Taste is grapefruit, pineapple, some mango, moderate bitterness. Feels full bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.

A: The beer is very hazy to cloudy pale whitish yellow in color. It poured with a quarter finger high white head white head that quickly settled down, leaving a thin collar around the edge and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of herbal hops are present in the nose along with notes of lime and grapefruit.
T: The taste follows the smell and has additional notes of melon and strawberry. There is a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This Imperial IPA has a lot of complexities in the smell and taste and is rather easy to drink considering its strength.

Appearance: Pours a nearly completely hazy (10% clarity), light orange to deep yellow color. A strong white head. SRM of 7. (4.25)
Aroma: Strong aromas of citrus, pineapple, green honeydew melon. There's lemon citrus rind and some white peach and grape aromas. (4.00)
Flavor: Strong and juicy flavors of orange & grapefruit citrus, pineapple, citrus and pineapple rind, lemon citrus, some green citrus and honeydew melon. Somewhat floral with citrus and pineapple rind. Maybe traces of white peach and grape. Finishes slightly sweet with a pineapple and rind finish. Slightly green. (Rating: 4.25)
Feel: Medium to heavier bodied. Appropriate carbonation. Finish is sweet at 8.6%, but hides the alcohol decently, but it starts to shine through a bit. (4.00)
Compared to Hubbard's Cave Drippin' Dew 7/31/22: Pours a lighter, hazier color. Stronger aromas. More citrus rind, pineapple, lemon, green citrus. Less dank and resinous melon, tangerine, and berries. Similar sweetness. Lighter and zestier.
Compared to Drekker Evil Natured Robots 8/26/22: Pours a similar color, larger head. Stronger aromas. More citrus rind, flower, and pineapple rind. Less orange, tangelo, and canteloupe. A smoother, more cohesive body. Winner: Synaptic Cleft
Compared to BlackStack Open Bar 8/26/22: Pours brighter. More pineapple, citrus rind, flower. Less tropical green fruit and melon. Slightly more bitter. Both are top of their game.
to BlackStack Pack Of Shooters 1/25: Pours lighter, stronger head. Milder aromas. More lime, white peach, green melon, strawberry. Less pineapple and mango.
to Drekker Metaphase 1/25: Pours identical, milder aromas. Less white grape, berries, citrus. More strawberry, green melon.
to BlackStack Next Week 1/25: Pours lighter, hazier. Stronger aromas. Less orange, grapefruit, pineapple, mango, grape. More green melon and strawberry. Similar sweetness.
to Drekker Goodbye Stranger 2/25: Pours similar, larger head. Stronger aromas. More peach, strawberry, tangerine. Less green fruit, citrus, pine.
Overall: A fantastic imperial NEIPA here. Fantastic flavors here to stand up to the heavier and sweeter 8.6% body. Citrus, lemon, pineapple, citrus flower with hints of green fruit and white peach/grape as well. Sweet, but balanced and drinks well. I usually don't enjoy IPAs with this ABV, but the flavor holds up well to match the body here. (Rating: 4.12)
