Halfheartedly murky orange, bubble collar. Grains and wheat lead with hints of barnyard funk, honey, oak, melon, red wine, grape, and apple. Taste follows the same path as the nose, honey and vinous elements combine to raise the complexion halfway through the sip. Grains, oak, light funk and floral notes all form a base for the fruit to play off of, lemon and lime added in. Feel is sneaky acidic, vinous, tart and bright.

Purchased from Tavour, I had to buy this because I graduated nearby 49 years ago. And maybe I'll visit the Kent Falls taproom on my 50th Reunion. Poured into a Chimay bowl.

Two housekeeping items in this collaboration with Casa Agria.
First, Kent Falls produced two ales with this name. The first was aged on Chardonnay and released in June 2018. My copy was the second which was bottled after nine months of barrel-aging.
Second, In Media Res could be classified as an American Brett; but I'm an old fuddy-duddy, and besides Brett done modestly can be in the saison tradition; particularly when combining grains as Kent Falls has done.

I'm Looking at a decent pale. Smells are a modest barnyard funk, cidery and winey also. Tastes are the grains balancing the Brett, which is hard to do well. I get a bit too much Brett after-taste, but that is just me (a malt-head) speaking. Cleanses the palate well through appetizers to dinner. I often add vinegar to my meals. I didn't need to with In Medias Res. It is possible that my bottle stayed too long in the barrel. But my bottle also was mellower on the second day.

Kent Falls is a quintessential farmhouse brewery. Grow their own hops. Have pigs and chickens. The real 21st Century deal with solar panels and compost. See the video aerial tour on their website.
