Pours a nice gold colour, bubbly yet headless. Corny and grainy on the nose. Grainy, bready and slightly sweet on the taste. Nice carbonation level

Tallboy from the LCBO; dated 07/08/2022 and served slightly chilled. Brewed in honour of the 50th anniversary of the '72 Summit Series. Cheers to Russians losing.

Pours a clear pale golden colour, topped with half an inch of loose, soapy white head that dissipates within ninety seconds or so. A messy coat of arcing lace is tossed about in its wake, with a frothy collar and filmy cap also lingering on - looks fine to me. Bready, wheaty malts on the nose, with hints of biscuit dough, honeyed sweetness, and a touch of earthiness.

It's a decent blonde: the flavours don't deviate far from the aroma, featuring bready malt, biscuit dough and wheaty, grainy sweetness throughout. Subtle hop presence, if any - maybe a hint of grass and earthiness, but it's the bready malt flavours that last into the finish, leading into a wheaty aftertaste. Light in body, with average carbonation that adds prickliness to this brew's otherwise smooth texture. Easy to drink, and pretty refreshing.

Final Grade: 3.68, a B grade. Le Bilboquet's 72 Canada is a well-made, if unspectacular blonde ale that I have no serious complaints about. It's not an interesting blonde, with wheaty, bready malt flavours/aromas doing most of the heavy lifting here - good for drinking in the locker room after a game, but not necessarily a brew that beer geeks will be swooning over. Worth a try if you like blondes, or even pale lagers - a serviceable lunch pail ale, and a welcome nod to one of the nation's finest moments in sport.
