Clear and see-through golden beer with a 1-inch head. Kinda looks like a macro-beer with a head...Smells really good (far from wath a macro smells like) What I smell the most is clove, nutmeg, and bready/earthy smells. Taste like banana, clove with a warming alcohol taste (even though it's only 6%). A nice hop bitterness is there too which is nice. A really good saison, refreshing and warming at the same time, really interesting.

This beer is not retired!
From a 500ml bottle into a tulip glass.
L: Pours golden yellow with a bright white head.
S: Banana, clove, sweet fruit
T: Spicy, bitter, and sharp sharp hop sting.
F: Man those hops sting.
O: This is a nice beer underneath the overwhelmingly sharp hop oils. Too much emphasis on bitterness, not enough on aroma. The lack of balance knocked this down for me.

Draft: Poured a hazy light yellow color ale with a nice pure white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of light hay notes with some light residual sugar notes are also perceptible. Taste is also dominated by some light hay notes with some semi-sweet note with a non-descript malt profile. Yeast esters are way too discreet for style. Body is full with limited filtration and good carbonation. Interesting but fell a bit short in terms of characteristics I was hoping to recognize in this style.

Bottle 904 of 2000. Pours with a good off-white head, fading down to a respectable cover and leaving some lacing. Clear amber/honey-coloured body (becomes hazy if you pour the yeast at the bottom).
On the nose: thick, bready malt for a saison, nice spice blend (coriander, pepper, nutmeg), astringent lemon, light tropical fruit, herbal hops, a touch of candy. Quite nice.
The first thing I noticed was that the alcohol is pretty hot for 7% ABV, seeming more like 8% or so. Other than that though, this is a pretty decent and balanced saison. Good malt base (bready) and spiced neither too lightly nor too strongly. Light citrus, herbal hops and minerals with coriander, pepper, nutmeg and light ginger.
Goodfeel: medium-full bodied with creamy moderate carbonation. A little drying on the finish.
I wish the alcohol could be turned town a notch and for a touch of funk in there but it's still a solid, if fairly unremarkable, saison.
