473 mL can from the LCBO; no canning date that I can spot. Served slightly chilled.
Pours an inky, opaque brownish-black colour, generating one finger of smooth, foamy, tan-coloured head that melts off in three or four minutes' time. It leaves behind a full curtain of sticky lace as it's reduced to a tight, creamy collar and film - looks pretty good so far. Mostly malts on the nose - there's cocoa, coffee, treacle and some mild roastiness, with very subtle hints of vanilla.
Not bad - sweet at first, countered by a nice roastiness later on. Caramelized sugars, vanilla and milk chocolate at the forefront, with notes of cacao nibs not far behind. More of a dark chocolate, sweetened coffee and molasses feel towards the finish, with roasted malts and a touch of ashiness into the finish. Medium in body, with moderately low carbonation that gently agitates the palate; feels smooth and fairly satisfying in the mouth. Average drinkability; one can is plenty for me.
Final Grade: 3.59, a middling B grade. My Blackfriars Bridge Vanilla Stout experience morphed as I made my way through the glass - the first gulp was the 'roastiest' (and most palatable) of them all, but after that the sweetness gained a lot of ground, and the vanilla also kind of built upon itself with each sip. By the end of the glass, I was absolutely ready to move on to something else. In all fairness, vanilla stouts/porters have never been a big draw for me, so if you feel otherwise, this might very well be a solid pick for you. As for myself, I might return to it once in a while when I'm craving a sweet stout, but it's low priority.

Pours as black as night with a 1cm beige head. Nice lacing sliding down my glass. Smell is toasty and malty. The taste has faint hints of vanilla which I may not have even noticed if I hadn’t known. A bit of smoke and some malts caps off the taste. More carbonated than some stouts.
