Pleasure House Brewing "No Wizards Here"
on tap at the brewery on 19 June 2017
$5.50 / Pint
Notes via stream of consciousness: Collaboration with Isley Brewing from Richmond, VA. Belgian-style saison with Lingonberry (what, is there an IKEA nearby?) and lemon zest. Listed at 20 IBUs. Clear deep gold body beneath a bright white head that unfortunately shows limited retention. Odd, this isn't a sour beer. Maybe it's just the bar glass. Oh well. Not much in the way of lacing either. The aroma is unusual, or at least not what I'd expected, it's herbal like weed with some grainy malt. The flavor adds tartness and some spiciness and fruit. I don't recognize the Lingonberry, although I don't really get anything specific even when I'm drinking the Lingonberry juice at IKEA. It's just berry-like and herbal ~ maybe that's where the herbal aroma is coming from? Medium-light in body and crisp. Interesting, and quite drinkable. I'd certainly have another pint if I didn't have to get over to Commonwealth Brewing.
