from the label--
Our Pilsner is named after the Bavarian Joseph Groll, often known as "the father of the Pilsner." His pale lager has served as the inspiration for more than two-thirds of the world's beer. Groll is brewed with a mix of Saaz and Tettnang hops and is lagered for over 6 weeks. The result is a clean, crisp, dry bodied and refreshing lager.

So this is brewed with the original German Pils in mind? It is an honour for me to have added it to BA and I really want to have it again so I can give it the review it deserves.

Groll really only Looks slightly above the average of this pretty style. (I admit I didn't have a pils flute to pour it into.) But it held a nice head. Smells were slightly better, mostly malt with a few aromatic hops at the end. Tastes are well-balanced and the hops didn't finish strong like too many German renditions and almost all Czechs. Medium-mouthed and soft. I drank this with my dinner of pesto on pasta. (I usually have a saison.) But Groll cleared my palate of the olive oil. Did its job.

Some 12 years old now, this husband and wife team that does all the Good Guy stuff for sustainability and diversity. They also have added to their taproom/brewery recently with a pub with a Mexican kitchen. Maybe that is where I should have Groll again.
