Canned on 8/10/22; consumed on 9/16/22

Pours a slightly foggy, copper-gold body capped with just under three fingers of creamy, off-white foam; solid head retention yields a paper-thin cap, moderate, creamy collar, and a dense spread of soapy, webby lacing draping down the walls of the glass.

Aroma features tinges of brown sugar and toffee against a balance of doughy yeast and spritzy minerality, leaving light brown bread and fruity undertones lingering.

Taste opens to toasty malts feeding brown bread and bread dough impressions, while subtle yeast sees a prickly minerality evolving to cut progressively musty malt residuals and fruity undertones on the back end of the profile.

Mouthfeel brings a medium-light body and a rounded, moderate carbonation; clean upfront while sporting a soft prickle on the mid-palate, the back end dries to a fluffiness easing toward the finish.

A briefly successful initial attenuation sees an odd unraveling of the malt profile, fading taut, bready undertones for a mustier trajectory and impromptu hop inflection; inconsistent and ultimately mediocre.

Found when scouring Kings Cove in Holland Michigan for brewers I had not tried... Not my best find, nor an O-fest I'll return to. The underlying problem is that One Well has only one other lager on BA now, and that is not enough experience to know how to make an O-fest that is better than average. My copy also was canned for last year's O-fest.

One Well's O-fest does Look promising, a voluminous head and nice lace running the length of my stange (admittedly, the stange encourages foam.) I prefer O-fests that have more amber, but One Well's lacks enough sweet malt and this shows up in its flat Smells. Tastes follow, not much speaks to the interplay of hops and sweet malts that are usually show in the leaders of this style. But, One Well's rendition was refreshing after a mid-Autumn bike ride.

My first from One Well, I went on their website and they have a well-done promotional video. They push all the "craft" and "community" buttons and for that I give them OK Overall Hugs. But they are in a college town, so maybe elevate some sustainability.
