Lacking the effervescence needed for a saison, but th taste is spot on.

While many micros tried in decades prior, the saison is hard for North Americans to brew; mostly because it is hard to sustain a yeast good enough to turn the mixed malt bill into fruit, IMHO. So it is here for Jackrabbit; but they actually still do a pretty good job despite their yeast deficiency.
Three things should be said about this Saison. First, it is past its prime; and a sub-par Belgian yeast is the first to show age. Second and besides the fruitiness, the real richness of a yeast strain (spices like pepper appear) are not present sufficiently. That may result partially from too much age in this fresh-is-best style; but the flaw mostly is from lacking a lively and penetrating yeast. Third, one of the mysteries here is this Saison's yeast stays active, a healthy foam sticks to the glass... it just lacks the fuller flavours of the style.
I give Jackrabbit very good Overall Hugs, primarily because they have a Belgian brew line and, based on what I just drank, Jackrabbit has a very good idea of what they have to do. I would very much like to taste their Belgian Pales, Tripel and Quad. Perhaps in time.
10/30/25 I found another copy from the same batch, now past its prime. I edited the above and reduced my rating slightly because I now consider a "3" to be the style's average. I will keep looking for Jackrabbit's other Belgians.

Tastes more pale ale than saison. Clear, with only the slightest of estery notes. Somewhat bitter finish. Slightly funky. Goes well with food. Wish it was more distinct.

Clear golden brew with white rings of foam in the big wine glass. Expansive aroma of toasty grain with a whiff of yeast. Lucious peach in the nose. Creamy texture in the mouth with plenty of fine carbonation.
Cream of wheat cereal taste is clean and and warm. Just a faint scratch of bitterness and not overly yeasty. Very pleasant classic Saison. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Healthy Spirits. Label says bottled on 8/30/2016 but it tastes farmhouse fresh.

Ok for a saison, but nothing too impressive. Look is ok with a quickly dissipating head. Good color, with good unfiltered haze. Slight bubblegum, with a slight citrus and lemon, light spice finish. Was hoping for more for the price.

Light fruity esthers and fruity notes. Some spice, not much: body color is golden straw, slightly hazy. Mouthfeel is light to medium. Finishes semi-dry.

Pours a no head on a hazy light straw body.
The aroma is corn on the cob, flowers and grains.
The taste is a mild but flavorful banana, mild lemon bitterness, and spices.
The texture is crisp and fizzy.
It's a nicely flavored, but easy drinking brew.
