Sugar. Sugar on the nose, sugar to taste. Its got the look of one of those old school Star Trek drinks - electric vermillion. No head, no lace, just brightness. Nose is maraschino cherry and tangerine, like Hawaiian Punch. Candy fruit to taste. Very 1960s, all it needs is a little umbrella and maybe a straw. Could be served up on ice. Novelty stuff, suitable for the patio, only mildly beery. Not flat out awful, but more like a kiddie drink than anything else. A Tang variant.

473 mL can from the LCBO; coded Feb 12 2021 and served well chilled.
This so-called 'beer cocktail' is hazy, translucent pinkish-amber in colour, with a rough pour producing two inches of fizzy, pale pink-tinged head that sizzles off within sixty seconds. A narrow collar persists, but there's no cap or lacing; looks fine for a fruit beer. It smells mostly of cherry and orange, but it's also exceedingly sweet, much like a fruity soda along the lines of Fanta red.
Not quite as sweet as red pop, but it's not too far off, either - I'm getting cherry right from the start, with syrupy sugar sweetness present throughout the sip. The orange juice is a bit subtler, and I'm also getting a touch of apple, but it's well-masked by the cherry, which lingers through the finish and into a fairly sweet aftertaste. Light in body, with lots of carbonation, not unlike a soft drink - it also has a bit of that 'fluffiness' that you get in orange sodas, which I am going to attribute to the gum arabic and polyglycerol esters, or maybe one of the other non-beer ingredients (there's plenty). Tossing one back was easy enough, but it's not something I could drink all night.
Final Grade: 3.26, a C+. Moosehead's Sunrise Cherry Mimosa tastes basically nothing like a beer, but is that even much of a problem with a fruit beer? I guess it depends on what you want out of the experience. My main complaint is that this was back-sweetened with apple juice, even though white grape juice probably would've suited the mimosa theme a little bit better. It's not really tailored towards my preferences, not even for a fruit beer, but it's not exactly unpalatable. Worth consideration if you like cherry-flavoured beers.
