A nice dry on a wet winter day.
Bud's Corvus Looks the part with a full head that stays reasonable active over a three hour sip. Smells are mostly chocolate and other malts. Tastes are a well blended toasty-roasty overtaking the sweet malts to finish nicely dry, almost bittersweet. Soft and creamy. Well-made and traditional enough to steal the thunder of the WCTU, also HQ'd in Evanston. Cheers !

"Best by 8/23/22"; drank 6/8/22 @ the Yarchives.
Black/brown appearance.
An even pour yielded a nice tan head; decent lace.
Fresh earth, cream & mild dark chocolate notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Fresh earth, cream & dark chocolate flavors; this is a sturdy, well-constructed and tasty dry Irish stout.
I'd have another!

4/3/19 (Chicago): $5.25 16 ounce draft nitro pour into pint glass at The Garage Bar & Sandwiches. Dark black pour, thick off white head, creamy and rich. Coffee malt aroma, strong and pleasant. Taste consistent with aroma, rich roast coffee, creamy, thick, nice taste and well blended. Carbonation holds well, creamy rich mouth feel, very easy drinking. Overall very nice pour.

Pours seal brown with a moderate cap of khaki froth. Aroma is quite roasty with a hint of peat. Cobweb lacing dangles from the rim of the glass as the beer recedes.
The taste is similarly roasty, accented by an earthy flavor akin to peanut shells. Earthy hops lend a low-key bitterness that melds with the bitterness of the roasted malt. Not much else to say here, as complexity hardly appears to have been the goal. Moderate carbonation and medium-light body make for a smooth, dry, drinkable stout.
Overall, this is one of the grittier, roastier Irish stouts I've tried, although it is almost cloyingly so in the long haul.
