the latest in a rotating series of gruit style beers from these guys. this one is made with a whole bunch of cooked down rhubarb according to the barkeep at the taproom. it doesnt have any color from the rhubarb, but it sure does make an impact on the beer. the grain base seems sort of light, and the usual herbal botanical bittering complexion i look for in the style is notably absent, without the rhubarb, this one would be mighty basic. that said, the rhubarb adds this wonderfully authentic crisp tartness to the nose, mouthwatering and slightly citric. in the taste its a little it sweet, adds some body and some light acidity at the same time, as well as a long finish, slight pucker, and feels fresh to me. great stuff, i like the style, tame as this example of it is, and i think this is one of the better uses of rhubarb i have had in a beer before, which is awesome. id love to try some of the other flavored gruit types they do, looks like they pretty much always have one going, which is awesome. had a great time in here and was really impressed with their ambitious beers! this is summery and delicious
