a fine saison, but the menu in there said this was a brett beer, and it absolutely does not present itself as one. looks relly good in the glass, wheaty yellow, cloudy enough but not thick, and with almost two inches of white head with great retention on it. the nose is more of a french saison strain with white wine notes and stone fruit, rather than any tangible funk that could have possibly come from brett. its very young and underdeveloped in that regard, and the taste matches the nose, a bit one dimensional without the additional yeastiness, but the beer tastes quite good just the same. the base is pretty fluffy, lots of wheat i have to assume, and a above average hopping on the back end, it really stands up to the sharp yeast. if this was in fact funked out with brett, i think it would be the best beer these guys have done, its totally moving in the right direction, but you really cant put that on your beer menu and have it taste like this. that said, its a great saison, but dont expect the brett to be evident here.
