a pale but grain forward lager with some body and some character, a touch of sweetness, and some quality malt personality at the center of it, while still being easy enough drinking, a nice food beer i would imagine, although i had it straight up, always good to pop in here for a quick one when walking the arts district. blonde and sunny looking pour, pretty clear, short stocky and lasting white head, adequate carbonation, looks pretty good, simple and still light even with its slightly stronger than conventional abv and all. the aroma is a little warmer, some light grain sweetness, floral hops fully complimentary and low bitterness, light honey, white bread, and minerality that is flattering, the lager yeast has a little something too, and so this is quite dynamic to me, plenty fresh, lightly woody even in that new oak sense, grainy but just a beer at the same time. the flavor follows, a little sweet up front, biscuity breadiness without going all in on the baked warmth and heartiness thing, some maybe old world essence to the lager yeast, a little lesser hop element than in the nose, but helps keep it balanced, maybe light oxidation for a second too, some doughiness, good but with some linger through the finish kind of past the point where i generally want a lager like this to stop, almost a alt liquor aspect to it without the cheapness. subtly unique, a bit more to it than most, not amazing but a worthwhile lager with its own vibe. i like posting up in here.
