Bought two cans from Beer Drop. I drank the first can quickly and without food. This second can is the basis of this review.
The primary problem with this brew is the yeast. Belgian yeasts take time to develop and skills to keep and cultivate. While 7 years old, Gunbarrel has not put proper effort into using Belgian yeasts. This is common among American micros.
White Witch Looks like not much. It Smells only slightly better, really with a marginally fruity aromas. Tastes improve to average, balanced and innocuous; but still not worthy of the table that good saisons are. In the mouth, only slightly cleansing.
While Gunbarrel says via UnTappd that they bought this yeast from a Denver yeast specialist, I suspect something has been lost in execution. Seven of Gunbarrel's eight most rated brews on UnTappd are IPAs. It shows. While I often give 4.0 points Overall to a brewer that is trying hard to make it in the Belgian tradition, I rarely give 3.5 to any such brewer... and that's what I'm giving Gunbarrel. They need to stick to their knitting. Colorado has many micros learning the Belgian tradition. Gunbarrel does not appear to be one of them.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
