the most clever beer i have seen so far from these guys, i like it quite a lot. ive never had their wheat, so i have no idea if this is just a fruited version, or if its something else entirely. the beer is definitely tart, i dont know about the base beer, but this tastes at least partially sour mashed to me. berliner type, but much less acidity. hazy cloudy bright purple color that matches the can. rarely are currants as forward as other fruit they are paired with in a beer, which is part of what i love about this one. i taste the currants in front of the cherries on the fruit, which is just awesome. tangy and sweet at the same time, and the wheat malt base is not lost to this, it in fact enhances it, and the texture it provides it really nice and lets the fruit linger longer. the cherry is tart too, which adds to the pucker of this beer. more refreshing than sharp, but its there alright. with the low abv and all the flavor, its a real nice session beer, never too sweet being a fruit beer, and never too sour. i think they have this really well dialed in. their beer has all been excellent lately, and i was stoked on this. good on mondo vino for selling it as a single, not sure i would have committed to a four or six pack without trying it first...
