Very dark but clear mahogany reddish-brown with a moderate, creamy light tan head settling to a thin film and thick collar.

Smell is brown toast, light bitter coffee, and mixed nuts.

Taste is mild but scrumptious coffee, brown lightly toasted bread, mixed nuts, and a hint of milk chocolate. It sweetens up over time, hinting at raspberry. Really...this is quietly a stellar beer.

Mild overall, this is an unobtrusive but coffee-forward brown, without any coffee added. There's a good froth in the moderate, round body with a semi-dry finish. This is really good for a basic brown.

The bottle I had looks identical to the one in the picture, but without additional notes below "Beaver Tamer" regarding blackberry. It seems there are two versions, but there's not a lot of clarity on branding. This entry is listed identically as Wild Beaver Tamer though, I'm just going to rate it here and not bother with another entry as it seems few people taking a trip to Mackinac give a shit about rating beer.

Had as part of a flight at the Mackinac Island Brewhouse. Pour is purplish black, the use of blackberry juice is obvious in both color and aroma. Taste is decent, not cloying or too sweet, pretty decent as a summer refresher. One of the better berry ales I've had, would make a nice mower brew.
