Review from notes. Durand purchase. Served well chilled into a chalice.
Appearance - Mostly clear dark brown color with minimal visible carbonation. Small half finger of off-white head is poured which fizzles out quick.
Smell - Plenty of brandy notes, some sweetness, a lightly fruity qualities and some wood backing things up.
Taste - Wood and brandy and not much else. Not the most intense flavor but the ESB is practically wiped out save for some fruitiness. I like it, but the brandy flavors have overwhelmed the base beer.
Mouthfeel - Medium-full bodied, on the lower end of carbonation. Fairly dry on the finish.
Overall - Interesting but pricey beer, would like to see this idea implemented with something a little more robust (say their signature porter) I think that could be very interesting.
