Appearance:
Pours to a buff two finger rocky and patchy lacing head that persists. Color is a deep copper with a very slight fine turbidity.
Aroma:
Clean crisp British malts, slight brown sugar and caramel note and earthy, floral British noble hops. Perceptible but very low fruity yeast esters.
Flavor:
Brown sugar cookie, toffee and malts, balanced with a deliciously soft English hop bitterness and flavor. Goldings or Fuggles? Finishes bittersweet, biscuity and semi-dry
Mouthfeel:
Medium light, Medium carbonation, no astringency or harshness, no burn, alcohol well hidden.
Overall:
This is an excellent ESB style beer from New England. The hops are soft and easy (very British) and not in your face like US hops. The malts are traditional and less dry and grainy and more biscuity and softly sweet. The look is not perfect, but in the grand scheme, this is a keeper. I have local beers that come close but not quite. Will import this every chance I get.
