Man I can dig a massively dry hopped lager, so this was an easy choice that day when I walked into Fieldwork. Pours a hazy golden color, no doubt attributable to the significant dry hopping using El Dorado hops. Aroma is hoppy, but maybe not as pungent as their commercial tug job would lead one to believe. Mostly a mix of lager yeast and citrus hops come out here, which is a tad bit surprising given the El Dorado hop.
Taste is easy to drink, a little bit more bitterness than a BMC lager, but the hop quotient isn't pushing this into the elite level of IPL. Its got a grapefruit kind of hop vibe, maybe a tad of passion fruit. Drinks more traditional than I thought it would. On one hand, its nice to see a lager, knowing that they could have sold a bunch of quicker to make and turn a buck ale. On the other, I wish this was as good as most of their hoppy ales.
Decent beer, but I dunno if El Dorado is best for a lager. I say keep rotating this recipe through different hops.
