I dunno what the deal was last month, but when I went and did the Fieldwork flight, there was a bunch of Gilmore Girls references in their beer. That's cool, we can't all drop uncle joke level hop puns 24/7.
Pour is darker SRM than expected for a saison, this one comes out an amber color with 1/2" white head. Some mild fruity notes that are way more nuanced than their commercial tug job would lead you to believe. Seems a little more alcohol than most saisons but not problematic. The azacca dry hopping wasn't resulting in an ipa like nose or anything. I dunno why they dry hopped this one. The mouth feel reveals a more complex character as the beer kinda evolves from a higher than average bitterness, into a drier almost red wood like presence. I did notice I liked this beer more and more as I got accustomed to it.
Taste was almost close to an imperial saison designation. Close. Its an interesting beer, and one of the rare "malty" descriptors that might be fitting for this style. Weird.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
