Thanks, Bill!
Got this from Bill at the 2019 Firestone Invitational in one of our beer exchanges. Was looking forward to it because it would be second time reviewing a Fieldwork beer and first time with an IPA. The Untappd description read, “Yeast has been the true final frontier in IPA for quiet some time now; after decades of experimenting with hops, malt, and different water profiles, it's finally time for breweries to enjoy and explore the possibilities using expressive yeast strains. Altered Yeast is our IPA to celebrate the holy matrimony between yeast esters and hop aromas. Alongside using the best aromatic yeast strains we can find we also loaded this one up with two of the orangiest hops that ever have oranged; Citra and Southern Passion. These aren't two of our favorite hops for no reason, with huge notes of orange marmalade, tangerine zest, tampico, and canned peaches in syrup the Citra and Southern Passion hops pair perfectly with the fruity yeast esters to create an absolute juice bomb that we just couldn't achieve with a neutral yeast strain.” Not sure if I’d had Southern Passion before.
Poured a hazy golden-to-light amber color with three fingers of rocky white head. Lots of bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass at different speeds. Almost perfect spiderweb lacing. Perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled mandarin orange, tangerine, canned peaches, orange rind, Citra, guava, passion fruit, bubblegum, light coconut and spoiled fruit. Better from the can as usual. (Smell - 3.75)
First taste and I was thinking, “Damn, that’s what Southern Passion is.” Got mandarin orange, juicy canned peaches, nectarine, tangerine, bitter orange rind, guava, Citra, bubblegum, Circus Peanut candy, hints of coconut and spoiled fruit. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.00)
I think I overrated this just a tad, so dropped the overall rating to a 3.75. Very good-to-outstanding. (Overall - 3.75)

On tap, served in 16oz tulip. Been wanting to try it for a while but wasn’t able to. Let’s see how she fares.
L: hazy orange yellow with zero clarity. About 3 fingers of a stark white bubbly cap (even on tap) consisting of medium-sized bubbles. Generous amounts of lacing costs the glass and I glug.
S: bubble gum, mango and citrus with hints of grass. Smells juicy and inviting.
T: honestly delicious. Tons of fruity juice flavor - peach, mango, pineapple, mango, apple, banana, tangerine and orange is all there and in abundance. There is a bubble gum flavor that works well, with a very very mild hoppy finish. This is a juice bomb. Not picking up on my yeast, let alone “altered” yeast.
F: medium in body and weight with moderate carbonation. The feel is smooth and enjoyable.
O: Really enjoyable as far as juice-bombs go. This is great, and I would totally revisit. I am very glad to try. Cheers!

32oz crowler. snifter glass. Pours a cloudy golden yellow body, one finger frothy white head, good retention, bit of lacing. Smell is a fair bit of faint sugary sweetness, mild citrus, light pine, and a bit of spice. Fairly citrusy. Flavour follows, spicy hop resin, mild grapefruit and orange, a bit of pine on the backend. Mouthfeel is lighter bodied, a bit lighter on carbonation, mild-moderate pine and zesty bitterness all the way through to the end.

Sweet orange tropical nose with taste that follows. This is a very smooth drinking hazy that only lacks in depth and feel for this single IPA. Try as I might, I couldn't figure out exactly what the yeast components were, but another good hazy from Fieldwork.

BB 12/26/18, consumed 12/10/18
Poured hazy, murky light OJ-looking with a small head that left good bands of lacing.
Aroma is of primarily bright oranges with some complementary notes of peaches, tropical, and other citrus fruits. Taste pretty much follows, super juicy, maybe a tad bit too sweet. Feel is medium, smooth and creamy, almost no bitterness, lower carbonation.
Overall, very nice orange juicy hazy. Apparently a very expressive yeast was used to make sure it's all juiced up. I can't pick the yeast's qualities out on its own, but it all worked out because this thing is very juicy.
