Notes: You may have noticed that we've gone absolutely crazy over the Lotus hop recently. Without exaggeration we can say that it's easily the most unique hop varietal to come across our path in recent memory, and so we thought it would be the perfect addition to the next DDH Juicy Bits variant. Lending huge, fun notes of a tangerine creamsicle, Lotus complements the already-amazing mix of pineapple, apricot and papaya coming from the rest of the DDH base. We can't wait for you folks to try this one.

Picked this up with many others on a recent work trip to Fort Collins, Colo. Everything I’ve had from WeldWerks has been fantastic and I expected this one to be in that mix as well. Untappd description read, “You may have noticed that we've gone absolutely crazy over the Lotus hop recently. We can't wait for you folks to try this one.” I believe Lotus would be a new hop for me, so was looking forward to it. A quick search and descriptors were “orange and vanilla followed by notes of candied grape and tropical fruit aromas.” Can also mentioned Citra, Mosaic and El Dorado with DDH Lotus.

Poured a pale hazy color with 3-to-4 fingers of frothy off-white head. Lots of fast moving bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Almost perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. World-class foamy retention. What a good looking beer. (Sight - 4.75)

Smelled that mentioned tangerine creamscicle right away. Also orange, vanilla, apricot, peach, pineapple, Mosaic, candied grape, papaya, passion fruit, melon, floral and mint. More of the smell from the can. Awesome out of the nose. (Smell - 4.25)

Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose. Got orange blossom, orange creamsicle, vanilla, bitter tangerine rind, apricot, peach, pineapple, Mosaic, lemon zest, purple grape, melon, floral, papaya and caramel candy. Seemed like Motueka would be in there, but no mention of it. Felt boozier than 6.7 pct. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Creamy finish. (Feel - 4.25)

Excellent beer overall. Lotus is a very interesting hop. (Overall - 4.25)
