Picked up way too much beer on a recent work trip to the Boulder area. Basically searched for Knotted Root, Outer Range, New Image, WeldWerks and Cerebral, among others, only finding the latter two at the one place I was at. Gave this a 4.25 on Untappd the night I bought it at the hotel, writing, “Sabro Air Force. Full review another time.” Untappd description was, “Double India Pale Ale brewed with Sabro + Lotus hops and featuring Galaxy hops.” Still kind of new to Lotus, but looks like orange, berry and tropical.
Poured a medium gold murky color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy white head. No noticeable bubbles coming up under the head. Excellent spiderweb lacing. World-class retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled Sabro up front, followed by Galaxy, wood, cedar, mint, peach skin, coconut, passion fruit, orange rind and viney berry. Even better out of the can with Sabro coming in hot, along with cedar and mint. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste was even better than the nose. Menthol, followed by woody and herbal. Also Sabro, cedar wood, mint, peach skin, coconut, Galaxy, orange rind, passion fruit, vanilla and viney berry. (Taste - 4.50)
Medium body. Average carbonation. Creamy texture. Long finish. (Feel - 4.50)
Hot damn I love this beer. Just world-class. (Overall - 4.50)
