Wholesome beer! Every sip is great and nourishing for body and mind. I ate a "kubbesild" (smoked, salted and dried whole herring) with flat bread tohether with the winter bock. Blissful!

500 ml bottle, as Ayinger Winter Bock, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6,7%. Mahogany colour, large beige head. Aroma of malts, brown bread, caramel. Pleasant flavour with the same elements, but not too sweet. Fruity hints of prunes. Smooth mouthfeel. Very good beer.

500ml bottle at my home bar in the Alps. Pour a very drak brown almost black in color with a lasting beige head. Aroma is dark chocolate, nuts and over ripe cherries. Taste is much the same with an added sweetness. A very complex and loved beer. A really great Bock and for me better than the Celebrator and caused me to have a beergasm..

Glowing dark ruby with creamy, clinging taupe head; pretzel crust nose with hints of ash, licorice, toffee, and flowers; pumpernickel, burnt sugar, currant bun, touches of anise, coffee hard candy finish; smooth, round, almost medium.

This is an elegant, drinkable, balanced and intricate dunkel bock, without a doubt.
So what’s the problem?
This year’s (BBD 2025) seems a bit off target. In past years there’s been dark fruit like plum and a definite sweetness. This year that dark fruit expresses as a hard raisin (like on a scone) astringency. It pushes the balance towards roast rather than melanoidin richness, almost edging towards a Schwarzbier. Altogether, it’s off style.
Still enjoyable, chalk + cheese vs. Celebrator (which is half again as viscous) and gives some beautiful cathedral lacing.
Just not quite the beer I remembered or wanted.
Winner, even on a bad day.

Dark brown, a lot of a very beautiful light brown foam.
Malty smell, light caramel, dark malts with chocolately notes, and coffee. A hint of red fruit.
In the mouth a lot of coffee, smooth, soft, full. Not heavy at all.
Great beer, great winter (doppel?) bock, warming, soft.
Very good.

L: dark brown almost black like stout
S: dark chocolate, roasted malt, licorice
T: dark chocolate, licorice, balanced
F: rounded finish, low carbonation, the body is more on the thin side
O: a very good quality beer which is similar to a stout, very enjoyable, but not the most interesting.

Pours dark toffee resin brown with frothy, off tan head. Malty, caramel on nose, though not overly pungent. Rich, dark treacle taste with mellow malts and crisp for a double Bock. Good wintry ale.

This is the final 0,5l bottle in the mixed 6-pack I purchased in the lobby of the Ayinger hotel when I was checking into my room over MDW 2023. Had never seen this and didn’t even know they brewed it so I was pumped. Label states a filling date of 14.12.22 and a best before date of 14.12.23. It’s the middle of summer but a cool, cloudy, windy, rainy day on the last Sunday in July so I figured why not today. Pleasantly surprised upon first sniff and sip. This could be a Doppelbock. Properly dark and sweet. Doesn’t drink as heavily as a double bock, though, which makes this a special seasonal bock. Caramelized malts are on point. Super drinkable for the style but definitely meant to be savored. I’m wondering if just over seven months in the bottle mellowed this out to near perfection. Wow!

L- Superficially black, held to a light it is a very dark ruby red. 1Cm pale tan head. Forms lacing.
S- Roasty malts.
T- Deeply roasty-toasty, into a deep richness then a dry hoppy lick in the finish.
F- Does what it suggests on the lable. Great for slow sipping on a winter's night.
O- As aniticipated it's a polished beer. Robust yet a fine balance to it. After a week sampling big-beast hipster beers it's a pleasure to get back to some no nonsense pedigreed quality. An irony is it costs less then them too.
Bought from Trembling Madness York for home delivery. 500ml bottle BB 06/09/23

Pours a dark-brown color with a medium top off beige head that dissolves slowly.
Aroma is of dark malts, bread, toast, dried fruits, caramel, nuts and spices.
The flavour is malty and bready with some sweet dried fruit notes allong with some burnt notes. The finish is slighly bitter with some herbal hop notes while the malty notes linger in the background. Aftertaste is long and strong. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy with a mediucarbonation and a medium body.
I found this bockbier really nice and tasty .
