Appearance: After building a massive head with the pour, the mahogany colored liquid eventually emerges; the head fizzes to a film, leaving a few strands behind
Smell: Tart cherry aromatics with the chocolate less prominent; earthy malts supplement
Taste: Sweet and tart cherry flavors overpower the chocolate; there is a Belgian yeast aspect here but it doesn't reach the level of Quad complexity
Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with high carbonation
Overall: With more spice cake Quad complexity and a less fizzy mouthfeel, this beer would be a real winner
Thanks, StevefromSPYR, for the opportunity

Blackish brown opaque body with a sudsy tan head that leaves a ton of lacing. Smell has the cherry and chocolate right away, beligan yeast with a touch of earth. Taste has the cherry lending sweet tartness, chocolate a decadent base, yeast is expressive, great new world quad! Feel is medium bodied with an upward movement on the palate, soft, smooth and full with a touch of astringency on the finish

Be mine, indeed, what a delicious and boozy beer without that booze forward smell or taste, this is the way they should be made.
I'm having this one as part of my early New Year's Eve celebrations, it sure is putting g me in the mood...

Head production is wild, even with proper storage and a careful pour. You don't normally see an all-foam pour like this unless it's a Brett beer. Once the beer calms down, the head retention is phenomenal, more in line with what I expect from a traditional quad. Body is a very dark nutty brown; it seems to be clear, but it is so dark that it may as well be opaque.
Nose is pleasant but doesn't hit you over the head with its notes. Cherry, prune, spicy and earthy Belgian yeast, cola, pepper, dark bread. Bits of nut and banana. Fairly traditional quad.
Very tasty on the palate. Normal quad tones of dark fruit and dark bread are present, but very quickly the cherry and cacao make their presence known - and deliciously! Wonderfully complementary, neither too restrained to simply be a gimmick, nor too strong to overwhelm the malt base.
Quite fizzy; demands smaller sips than you might otherwise prefer. Past the fizzy bite, it's fairly thick and almost chewy.

2018 edition bomber, into Thulsa Doom. Purchased at Total Wine in Daytona Beach.
Has a wonderful glowing shimmery caramel color with streaks of burgundy. Head is egg foam yellow, 2 fingers, receding rapidly to a fingernail. No lace.
Aroma of candi sugars and cherry tartness, with a good heavy aroma of caramel and toffee. Some vinegar and hardware store as well.
Flavor brings an odd vinegar-like cherry tone, with hints of what I'd call sour toffee, and general wet bready malt. Some hints of dark fruit and sugary cocoa. The vinegar really takes the reins on this one though.
Feel is hot and burning with a nice slick finish. Medium to heavy bodied. Sticky. Dries out on the finish.
Overall, all I'm getting here is vinegar notes, sour cherry, and some toffee. I ended up dumping nearly 3/4 of the bomber.
Price paid : $16.99 / bomber
Would buy again : No

I do not like cherry flavored anything and I traditionally do not like chocolate flavored beers; but this beer is absolutely fantastic. Was lucky enough to try this at one of their Brotherhood events. Despite the flavor profile I figured I'd give it a whirl and 3 glasses later I was happy I did. Really fantastic beer. There's nothing about it that I'd change. If you have the opportunity to try this, it's an absolute MUST.
