Barrel of Monks Brewing "Wizard In Pink"
1 PINT can; "CANNED ON" date is illegible
$4.49 @ Total Wine & More, Claymont, DE
Notes via stream of consciousness: This is obviously their Wizard Wit with raspberries added, but are they real? I don't see anything on the label about "natural flavor" so I'll assume they are. It's poured a amber body with a pink sheen to it. The head rose to about a half an inch and then dropped before I could figure out what to write about the color of the body. There's nothing left but a thin collar so I can't check on the color but it appeared to be just white and not really pinkish. In the nose I'm getting clear raspberry and a light touch of spiciness. It appears that this is truly made with real raspberries but let me taste it... yes, it's definitely real, and without any additional flavorings. It's sweetish, wheaty, oaty, and fruity with some delicate spiciness and a moderate bitterness. Somehow it finishes dry with some raspberry and yeasty spiciness lingering. It's medium-light in body with a soft zestiness on the tongue. The lack of head retention, and subsequent lacing, is a bummer but otherwise it's clearly a Belgian-style witbier, and the raspberry is really nice.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
