Pours a hazed yellow straw color with moderate cap of frothy white head, diminishing quickly and leaving little lacing. Scent is of muddy water, hints of pale grassy and wheat notes with an ultra thin layer of flowers, lemony citrus and spice, slightly soapy. Taste, aside from some off stale, soapy and salty flavors is almost not present, uber light grains and spicing with a barely noticable floral quality. Slightly oily and greasy moutfeel. I expected a lot more from this beer and got one of the most muddled flavored beers of my life.

nice pour. Huge billowing white head that left a ton of lacing on the sides and the bottom of the glass. Light golden color with a good amount of haze to it. Very solid indeed.

Light brett notes, hints of pears and light grains, a touch of a fresh grass like note coming through as it finishes up., airy, with a nice touch of brett up front. Light fruit notes bouncing around throughout the profile and a really solid, very well put together flavor. Light grain and a touch of lit hops finish it off very well.

Very light, very crisp and well carbonated . This was a no brainer to enjoy on a hot day,

Kilo to me wasn't really a true Saison ale, but I do feel that it was a very enjoyable beer overall regardless of style. Kilo pours out of the bottle as a orange yellowish gold color with a strong head on top of it. The aromas were citrusy and very bright. It smelled incredibly fresh and alive. The taste was very good too, it had the citrus base followed by some Belgian yeast in the back and some wild flowers in the middle. The mouthfeel was light with a good amount of bubbles. This was quite a refreshing brew.

Pours a hazy orange/amber with a thick off-white head. Very strong yeasty/funky nose with some citrus notes. Flavor is grainy, somewhat citrusy, and slightly sweet. Some noble hops in the finish give it a pleasant floral aftertaste. Yeast flavors really dominate this beer. Well carbonated and fizzy on the tongue. According to the website, this one comes in around 5.5% abv making this very drinkable and and enjoyable.

Served from tap into a Great Lakes shaker. Poured a hazy red-orange with a one finger pure white head. Maintained nice lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of malt, citrus, and spices. The flavor was of malt, wheat, and light peppercorn. It was light on the palate with mild carbonation. Overall this was very smooth for a saison. Wasn't overwhelming on the typical spices I don't usually like in saisons. This would definitely make a nice 'gateway' saison for people who don't typically like or haven't tried one before. Glad I got the chance to give it a try.

Thanks to msulinski for keeping me in Weyerbacher brews in the fasion to which I've become accustomted. And Lima is just around the corner!

Pours a warm, oaky orange with a surplus of both head & caronbation readily evident. Smell is classic saison...that's all I have to say about that.

Kilo opens with saison funk that's edged with lemon, flower petals, & is lip-smackingly dry. Yeast arrives & overtakes the more appealing elements of the beer & adds an unpleasant twang to the taste. The back lot consists of vague, unfocused spices & a backhand slap of bitterness, coming from...hops? Or something else. As the beer warms, the dry quality becomes pronounced to the point of annoying. Drinkability suffers to the level where I actually think the unthinkable; pour out a Weyerbacher beer (blasphemy!).

Well, this is the first in the tango fox series from Weyerbacher that I really don't enjoy. Plenty going on in this one, but the pieces don't fit, & are offset on the T-account by a few dour notes; doesn't even rise to mediocrity. Not a good beer.

I had this at the Cloverleaf Tavern in New Jersey. It came in a pint glass.
Appearance: The body is a cloudy gold color. The head is a bright white color, one finger tall, great retention, thin but abundant lacing, and small sized bubbles.
Smell: The aromas are yeasty, banana, and sparge.
Taste: The flavors are citrus hops, earth notes, and resin.
Mouthfeel: The body is medium with a clean finish.
Drinkability: This is a good beer.
Don't drink and review.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

Tough beer to review to style. I can understand where the negative reviews are coming from. Color is a murky honey amber with a dense foamy off white head that has exceptional retention and thick foamy clumps of lacing. Aroma is mild and citric with Belgian yeast notes. Light spiciness, predominantly coriander, but not quite as out there as expected. Flavor is mildly citric, with a spicy traditional saison flavor and a strong dry presence of from the chamomile. Medium thick body with moderate carbonation results in a dry, crisp aftertaste. Ugh, judging this against other traditional saisons, this beer fairs poorly, and even against some other spiced ones I've tried this summer like Stillwater's Cellar Door, it's hard to rate this higher. However, I found the mild spiciness and toned down Belgian yeast in the body to make this a really enjoyable hot summer day beer. As others have mentioned, this doesn't have much in common with their Muse, and isn't even the best of their recent Brewer's Select series, but if you have a chance give this a try.

Picked up in a recent trade. Poured from the bottle a nice light amber color, with a decent amount of white head. Some decent spiciness on the nose, somewhat floral, with coriander and orange zest. Nice balanced flavors, full-bodied, with Belgian yeast, some spiciness and little sweetness.

12oz bottle into a duvel glass. nice head and apple cider color. aroma is belgian yeast of course but i had a little trouble finding the spices advertised on the bottle. mouthfeel is refreshing. well carbonated. taste is average for a saison but it respects the origins of the style and is a great, refreshing beer for a hot summer night like this. not an all star but i would definitely drink/buy again

Had a glass at Liberty St Tavern. I'm not always a fan of Weyerbacher, but I'd have a few glasses of this. The Belgian yeast and spice character came on a bit strong and the beer was unusually cloudy, but I like the kick of grassy citrus hops and overall decent drinkability. There are better hoppy Belgians, but this is a respectable beer.

A - A crisp copper orange with billowy white head that quickly calms to a few centimeters.

S - Lemon and citrus with a few other more subtle spices in the mix.

T - Tart with a slightly metallic taste (might be from the cap - I'm not sure how safely this one traveled). Subtle chamomile, cloves and coriander. There is also a slight fruity sweetness.

M - Highly carbonated and crisp with a medium body.

D - This was a decent saison, but not really what I was anticipating. At first I was hoping they revamped the Muse, but this is nothing like that beer. I'd be interested in trying this one again, but overall there are other better saisons out there.

Wow! Shocked at the low reviews for this beer. I thought this was excellent.

The pour produces a very hazy, light amber color with a billowing, off white head. Four or five fingers worth at first, which then settles to a nice fluffy cap of foam.

The aroma is really vibrant and inviting. I knew it would be a great beer right away. It's spicy, but balanced with good fruitiness from the yeast. From the nose, it reminds me of a wit beer more than a saison, but the beer itself really doesn't fit either classification. Chamomille, coriander, and cloves come through on the nose, as well as fresh orange peel to balance. I would have guessed this had orange peel in it if I wasn't told.

The flavor brings out even more orange than the nose, as the sweetness in the middle accentuates the fruity side. The spices don't go away though, as a peppery, almost wildflower-like spice makes its way through on the front and very back end. Tying this all together is spot-on mouthfeel. Dry, light, and crisp to accentuate the refreshing qualities.

I'll have trade to try more of this. I'd like to compare a bottle to the poor reviews to see if I can find any of the flaws, but I won't edit this one. My first bottle of this beer was too good of a beer experience.

Tried this on-tap at Capone's yesterday afternoon and reviewing from notes. Served in a strange and hard-to-hold Kasteel glass (boy, they sure do love serving beer in these glasses).

Liquid is a murky yellow with a lacy white head and light carbonation. No sediment to be found, but I wouldn't say it's a beer you can see through. It does a nice job of miming the look of an authentic Belgian farmhouse ale and I can't wait to dive in.

Scent is sweet with light hints of banana and slight alcoholic tinge. I'm a bit surprised at the lack of dryness, but that doesn't take away from the refreshing character of the overall aroma.

Orange peel, coriander and perfumey spicing are stopped dead in their tracks by an odd acidity (bordering on astringency). This gives the back end of the beer a metallic quality that leaves a coating of bitter, tinny and medicinal flavor on the back of the tongue. It's so strikingly acrid that it completely overshadows the opening citrus notes, making the beer extremely hard to sip. This damning effect only worsens as the beer warms.

Whether it be a mistake in the brewing process or some other kind of unforeseen error, this beer in indigestible and I struggled to complete my glass. I regret ordering it and hope others take a pass if they stumble upon it.

Appears a hazy orange toned amber with a small white head that quickly fades into tiny film and collar. Scattered bits of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of yeast, fresh bread, chamomile, and flowers.
Taste...WTF happened here? Bitter yeast remnants with spices, lemon zest, and dry salted cod. Can't finish it.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, herbal, spiced with a semi dry finish.

Did not enjoy an entire glass. My sister ordered this so i am reviewing from memory.

Came to the table a cloudy orange, red, yellow with no real head retention, just white rimming around the glass. A 13 oz necked goblet.

Scent was very sweet citrus. Carb was evervescantly bubbly and mouthfeel was pretty thick and cyrupy (sp) sweet.

Taste was very very sweet - too sweet to drink more than one glass. Not BAAADD but i wont order again.

She definitly would tho.

On tap at Capone's during Philly Beer Week...

A - A fingers worth of exceedingly creamy rich white foam with excellent retention... An extremely hazy bronzed orange color... Sparse carbonation... Loads of lacing cling to the glass

S - Rather subdued... Band aids... Musky... Orange zest... Neither inviting nor off putting...

T - The chamomile is quite distinctive and soothing... Mixed with the coriander, light orange zest, and slight yest presence, this brew makes for an intriguing and enjoyable mix on the palette... A little warming goes a long way with this one... Layers upon layers of complexity are found as this one warms closer to room temperature...

M - One of the fuller bodied Saisons that I've ever encountered... Modest carbonation... Slightly chewy... Rich and slightly dense...

D - Enjoyable sip after sip... The chamomile adds loads of complexity and makes for a very interesting Saison... I would gladly welcome again... It should be sought after and enjoyed by all Saison fans... Another job well done by the folks at Weyerbacher...
