Consumed January 2, 2012 at the brewery.
Beer is a hazy medium yellow-orange with a fine white head less than a finger tall.
Aroma is juicy: herbal, grassy with a light yeasty note (not powdery, exactly, but Belgian).
On the palate: Light grassy note and bashful caramel malt. Juicy and very wet with a melonoidin finish that lingers for a while. Low but noticeable bitterness. Not terribly complex and lacking in funkiness and spice.
A little watery.
Refreshing on this unseasonably warm winter day, but far from a bellwether of the style.
Note : my rating reflects adherence to style parameters, not the flavor of the beer itself. It's a bit weak but easy to drink, but is a failure if it is to be considered a saison.
