With an upfront nose of citrus, followed by a floral and red berry finish, this delicious ale is well balanced in body and mouthfeel with a mild tartness.

This may seem counterintuitive, but thanks to my long hours at work & drinking less as a result, I am finding more beers in my backlog that I want to drink! Aldus is a small brewery in (relatively) nearby Hanover & I have been buying their bottles (gasp!) on occasion, usually to fill out a mixed sixer. I completed a brewery horizontal about a week ago with this one suddenly appearing during a visit to Rieker Brew Works!
From the Bottle (yow!): "Pomme Roy Ale with Pomegranate, Tangerine and Grapefruit"; "Throughout the deepest lore of humanity, the pomegranate has always been present. From Adam & Eve to Persephone; to the Sumerians and Chinese dynasties, this fruit has been revered by all. Tart, yet sweet and succulent, with a supportive balance of citrus, this elixir opens your palate to the flavors once only enjoyed by royalty. Feel elevated and celebrate being part of history."; "Proudly Brewed in Hanover, PA".
I noticed some lees sitting on the punt so before I Pop!ped the cap, I did some in-Bottle (eek!) agitation to ensure that everything that had flocculated was back in suspension. Following the Pop!, I went with a heavy-handed aggro C-Line pour into the awaiting glass. It erupted into two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head with very good retention. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy Amber to Deep-Amber/Light-Copper (SRM = > 9, < 13). Nose held a pronounced citrusiness with the tangerine (I would have identified it as simply "orange") the most prevalent, followed by the grapefruit and accompanied by the pomeganate. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium, but very soft in the mouth & on the tongue. The taste had a mildly tart fruitiness with all of the variegated fruits really working harmoniously to create a more subtle beer than I was expecting. This resulted in a high level of drinkability, evinced by my quaffing it more quickly than it deserved. Mmm. Finish was semi-dry, lightly tart & highly refreshing. Mmm. YMMV.
